Love the blog! I am a gay New Yorker and I’m having trouble finding a brunch spot that is not only gay friendly with an amazing menu, but also allows cigar smoking. I know it’s an odd request, but there’s got to be something like that here in NYC or Brooklyn. Thanks and keep it up!

You came to the right place. Meat Cigars in Fort Greene may very well be the perfect spot to enjoy a Macanudo while you nurse your Sunday morning hangover.

This dark and flighty café-by-day, gay cigar bar-by-night serves an inviting menu of Cuban-influenced dishes, like a very rare steak sandwich and an unorthodox tray of unfertilized poached eggs topped with yogurt and strips of fresh fruit. The $36 brunch includes a cup of strong, black coffee, a “Manmosa” (orange juice and prosecco in a beer mug), and an entree like the “Eggs Benafflack.”

Upgrade to $46 for a more original brunch cocktail, like the “Cape-Cod-OMIGOD,” a twist on the Cape Codder, which substitutes cranberry juice and vodka for watermelon nectar, Absolut Watermelli, and Midori melon liqueur.

Bonus: The waitstaff are all dressed like famous cigar smoking icons. Our waiter “Fidel,” was delightful and could roll a double corona faster than you can say, “Do you think the Highline will be crowded today?”
