FNYCRR Award: Best Vegan Sandwich Shop

Soupbone (33356 Kingsland Ave, Brooklyn 11222)

Vegans and poetry enthusiasts alike gather at this trendy ‘Burg coffee shop every Tuesday at midnight for the popular ‘Sprouts and Shouts’ spoken word poetry slam. Not a fan of anarcho-punk prose? No worries! Stick around anyway for the earth-toned decor and wildly delicious vegan take on “Chicken Parmesan,” made with tempeh, organic local catsup, and flax “cheese product” ($19). Every sandwich is made from soy-foccacia “bread” and are ideal accompaniments for a steaming hot cup of chicory “coffee.” Just make sure you keep feeding the jukebox dollar bills if you want to keep a steady flow of everything from mainstream (Joy Division, Morrisey) to experimental (GhhGahy jk, Hipo Hkjhl).
